I have the opportunity to get my hands on a Win Lee 6mm straight pull. I'm having a little difficulty ascertaining if it is in correct sporter configuration. Being as how they were made by Winchester, you would be the man to ask.[;)][:D]
This is the auction, 337435955 but I go to Moses Lake to work, so I've actually had hands on with it. What I'm not seeing is the fore end as one of the options I've seen for sporters. I've seen Schnabels and plain. But this fore end has a very wide band and the wood underneath appears to be relief cut for it. It looks factory, but having never seen all the options, I just wondered if you could give some insight.

Military cutdown with the front band moved to the rear band position. Way overpriced! 0 -

I agree with Trap... it is a chopped down military configuration, and priced too high. 0 -
Thank you guys most kindly. The action itself works quite well. It is missing a pin that would keep the front band in place as well as having the folding leaf sight missing. The actual sight. The ladder is there. Another thing that threw doubt on it.
As I'm pretty sure you guys are correct, he is asking about 4x then, what it is actually worth. To a collector obviously, this has lost so much just due to the originality lost when it was cut down.
It's quite a shame really as the round was maybe 90 years ahead of it's time (days of the VLD bullets). I understand now why the .243 and the 6mm were twisted the way they were. Warren and Fred wanted speed with light bullets. There is no way you could get accuracy with the speeds this thing could drive a 75/85 gr. bullet. At least not with bullet tolerances of that day. FWIW, even barrel tolerances and the powder at that time that destroyed most of them.
So, I'll give the idea a quiet burial. You might even hear taps play long after the sun sets.[:(]
