If you have a dial caliper, measure the diameter of the bullet just forward of the case mouth. 8mm Mauser should be in the neighborhood of .323. 7mm Mauser .284.0 -

Good non corrosive ammo. Not re-loadable though.0 -
And, that's not just any bullet sitting in the top of that cartridge either. Take a long look at that long sleek beautifully radiused ogive and understand those bullets were made to fly a looooong ways. For comparison, measure it against an M1 Match bullet of 172 gr.
The Portuguese ammo is really good stuff for long range shooting.0
