Ballard 40-63 Pacific

I was able to buy a nice Ballard Pacific in 40-63 in an estate. None of the people knew much about it, as did I. Where do you find cases and loading info. Thanks Litetrigger

  I'm not sure but I think I made them by turning the rim off a 30-06, threading the shank, then taking a tapped (100% fit) brass washer soft soldered with low temp silver and proper flux. Fire formed with a 38 special case full of black powder topped with corn meal, then fired straight up.
  
  I got to work with a #5 in 45-70 once. Ballard's have the second nicest double set triggers I have shot. Can you post some picks

  WOW we would love to see pictures . More than likely this Will be a case of buying some brass and Hand loading Cartridges of the world and I have a book Cartridge conversions that will tell you if there is a modern /current case that you can modify

  My 11th ed Cart of the world page 136 says a 444 marlin case can be made to work and the load he has listed is:
  
  330gr lead bullet paper patched bullet .403 dia. Lyman No. 403149 1/20 or 1/30 tin/lead,
  
  22 grains of IMR 4198 for a velocity of 1310fps.
  
  Buffalo Arms has brass and dies for it.

  The Ballard 40-63, 40-65, and 40-70 are all the same case. The 40-63 is usually referred to as the "Everlasting". If you do not want to shoot black powder, a good starting load is 24-grains of IMR 4198 under a 330-grain cast bullet.
