Colt Python DOM and grip type
Will someone let me know what year a Python was born in with a SER# V737xx?
Also.Would laminated walnut finger groove grips W/Colt medallions possibly be the correct type original to this gun?

Due to the type of grips,I assumed it was a late model Python.
It looks like this snake is older than I had thought.
It appears to be just a little bit before my K prefix Python(1981).
I now feel the finger groove grips are not original to the gun.
Can anyone tell me if the original grips for a V ser# gun were the same as the K ser# models?

Post 1978. You can call Colt to narrow it down further. 0 -
If between 1978 and 1981 I'd assume the correct grip style is the last version of the "original style" grips - walnut, with gold medallion with a straight top edge to the checkering pattern. 0 -
My book dates this as 1979. Probably had checkered walnut grips. Genuine grips are usually available on the auction side of this website, but so are counterfeits and many after market. 0
