British 303 marck US Property??

So I have a British .303 rifle which has England stamped on the ring back by the stock but is also stamped UP Property on the receiver. Any ideas what I might have??

  Sporterized Savage, SMLE. They made a bunch for the brits during the war. Believe they were classed as Lend Lease. Should be marked with a letter "S" in a box somewhere on the receiver.

  as above, unfortunetly it has been heavily 'bubbadised' and while a good shooter has no collector value. if you could find new wood for it, that would increase it's value.

  The rifle should also have a "C" in the serial number.
