Remington 11-87 Super Mag 12 Ga 3.5"

I'm thinking about buying the Remington 11-87 Super Mag 12 Ga 3.5". Any experience with this gun? Other recommendation?

  My honest suggestion, would be a Remington 870 Super Mag. You will not ever need to replace an O-ring, and therefor you will never have one fail in the field. Since you want to stay within a budget, I would suggest the Remington 870, over the prospect of a lower priced, problem laden, semi-auto.
  
  Not sure why you want to beat yourself, but 85% of shotgun needs can be taken care of with a 2 3/4" 12 gauge, and there is NOTHING a 3 1/2" gun can do, that a 3" gun, cannot.

  I have one and have had it for many years. TSR is correct about the 3 vs 3 1/2 I never use 3 1/2 anymore. The gun has been functionally flawless. I bought it used with a bad o ring , tried a hardware store one , works fine, I switch it out with a new one every season cost me a dime or so. I probably put 300 shots a year through it. I'd pass on the 870 just from the recoil but I'm admittedly a wimp [;)]

  11-87 is a GREAT gun. Just keep the o ring in shape. Put a ported tube in the gun and the recoil drops to that of a 2&3/4 inch shell. Will serve you well.

  I have had an 11-87 Supermag for years.I've put a couple thousand rounds through it over that time.It shoots any shell,any combination without fail.I would buy another if I needed another shotgun.Recoil is alot less than an 870 with the same load.3-1/2" turkey loads out of the 11-87 still don't kick as hard as an 870 with a 2-3/4" slug!!!
  
  Buy it and don't look back.
