Stoeger 12 gauge shotgun - model 3500

I'm thinking about buying the Stoeger Model 3500. Any experience with this gun? Other recommendation?

  Looks interesting. Not sure I would invest in an aluminum receiver.

  On aluminum receiver, I wouldn't worry about that. Lots of shotguns use aluminum receivers now, this has been true for years and years, and pretty much all the makers have some (if not all) of their models built on them.
  
  EG, the Mossberg 500 pumps use aluminum receivers and they're tough as bricks. IE the 590 passed US Military "torture" testing with an aluminum alloy receiver, and these hold up to tens of thousands of shells.
  
  Beretta has some aluminum receiver models. The Benellis are aluminum receiver, etc.
  
  The point is, so long as the gun design is otherwise OK, there should be no durability problem with an aluminum alloy receiver. In terms of recoil, that's a function of gun mass, so of course lighter gun = easier to carry but slower swing and more recoil. . .ie like everything else its a tradeoff.

  One thing to keep in mind, is that Stoeger's are imported, and made by many different manufacturer's, depending on what model, dictates who has the contract to make it. I am not sure if Beretta USA, has leased the Stoeger brand, or purchased it, but I know they are they were/are(?) the importer, here in the USA.
  
  That said, Stoeger changes models, like most folks change their underwear. Yes, a lot of them have common parts, and a lot do not. So that might be a factor in repairs.
  
  Lastly, keep in mind the verbage, of you get what you pay for. Very rarely do you get more than you bargained for.
