3.5" shells - shotgun under $1000
Is there a worthy shotgun out there that shoots 3.5" shells and is under $1000?
I'm thinking about buying the Stoeger Model 3500. Any experience with this gun? Other recommendation?

Mossberg pump - model is 835 I think 0 -
Not many out there for less than $1k new that is. I used to have a Beretta Xtrema(3.5"). Got rid of it because the slug barrel was $750 if you could find them.
IMHO, 3.5" is a waste of money & just kicks the hell out of you. I thought I needed the biggest shell out there, I now have a 3" Beretta Urika Gold Sporting and I kill just as many if not more with it. Cheaper to shoot too.

What do you mean by "worthy"?
Mossberg 835 "Ultimag" pump, out the door for $400 (or less) at your favorite local Walmart or other big sporting goods store.
Its not much to look at, but it will definitely get the job done.
Other choices?
Remington 870 Express Super magnum pump, roughly $700.
Benelli Nova pump, roughly $500.
Stoeger 3500 auto, ~$700 (or less).
Stoeger 350 pump, under $400.

You can get a mossberg 935 for under a grand. Lots of them that are lightly used as well for less. 0 -
Agree with other posters on the options; I have a Browning Gold Hunter that shoots 3.5 but haven't touched it for years. As bambambam says the 3.5 doesn't improve your odds much. It made sense, maybe, when the only option for geese and ducks was steel but now with the various non-steel load options the 3 inch is plenty good. 0 -
My wife has a Nova. We sea duck hunt a lot and 3.5's are pretty good for diving ducks. I shoot a super eagle and have no trouble with the 3.5's Only shot my wife's gun ONCE with a 3.5. If you have not fired a 3.5 in a pump i suggest you try out one before you buy one 0
