Browning 1911- 22
My local gun store has new Browning 1911-22 on sale for $500+tax($545).They have a 3.625in.barrel,and wood checkered diamond grips.
I have never had one apart,but at a glance they look cheaply made.
I would appreciate any comments regarding these little pistols.
My interest in it is more as a collector piece than a shooter.
In a nutshell...are these crappy guns?

I don't have any personal experience with this newer model, .22 Browning.
But from a collectors perspective Browning handguns only seem to go up in value. The first plain Vanilla Belgian Challenger I bought back in the 60's, was less then $100. I doubt if you could get your hands on one for less then $500, nowadays.0 -

I had to have one for what it represented . one hundred years of one if not the Greatest design of any handgun. It really is too small for the best results during use for most peoples hands. It is NOT the highest quality workmanship or out of the highest quality materials but it is better on both counts then Many pistols . I plan on using mine as a starter pistol for my Grand Kids sort of on a scale of my 1960's Ruger Bearcat. . I was able to buy mine new for $399.00 . 0 -

Currently $545 total cost doesnt sound too bad.
rufe-snow...I know what you mean.My Browning Hi-Power(1972)has nearly doubled in value since 2009 when I bought it.

At least they are made of aluminum.
All the other 1911-type .22s are die cast zinc.0 -
I have one of the 100 year edtions. I paid $600.00 for it out the door. I have not fired it yet, but like perry shooter, plan on using it to bring new, young shooter's into the fold. Other than the link that goes between the barrel, and frame/take down pin/slide release, it takes down just like a 1911. It does have a magazine safety though.
It is not the best of the best, but it is far from the worst. Now the only problem, seems to be finding ammunition to feed the 22 LR arms.

don't believe the gsg 1911-22 is zinc...got two 3.2 and 5" chiappa is zinc...looked at both browning and could not get excited...both gsg around $350@ 0 -
well seems the slide is aluminum and reciever is zamak...half & half..but worked ok so far 0
