Anyone know if it is legal for a US citizen to ship a Swarovski scope to a citizen in Buenos Aires Argentina?

I have found that the best way to handle this type request is to tell them: "If you have a US agent (an FFL/Exporter), I can ship to him; otherwise, I am unable to sell to you."

EDIT: The US Export Control Act is administered by the Dept of State. The US Munitions List is specific as to which items can be exported to which countries. And, yes, folks are doing hard time in federal prison for attempting to ship riflescopes & laptop computers to the wrong countries. I am mystified as to why someone would risk 2 years at Allenwood or the stockade in Eglin AFB just to make $50 on a sale.

If it's just a plain ole optical scope, you won't have any problem. Just put "optical scope" on the customs form. There is really no rational reason to fear doing business overseas. I've bought antique guns from Canada, Bayos from Germany and the UK and a bunch of IJA items from Tokyo.
I've sold GPS units to the UK and water sampling equipment to Italy, swords to India, and Nazi daggers to the Swiss.

Get out and see the world boys. It's not as scary as you believe (or have been told by the people who have never done it themselves).[;)]

I always used to follow the Customs info available on the US Post Office web site. That is why it is there, to let you know what you can ship. At that time I found out you can not ship firearm parts or playing cards to Spain. No Pork to the solders in Iraq either.
