Mini-14 older rear sight question
What are the open sight options for replacing the rear sight on a Mini-14 non-Ranch Rifle (183 prefix)? I am looking for a peep type design...also, without drilling mounting holes in the left side of the receiver, is there a scope mount available for this older Ruger action design?

Thanks very much...that's the mount I will try to find for a scope, but I still need a rear peep appeture. 0 -
Forgot to mention...that rugerforum sight seems to have allot of info but it only allows a VERY few choice folks to set up a user account...interesting reading on the site but I can't figure out why they are so restrictive to allow people to join their "club"! 0 -
there have been major problems with spam from people with free email accounts so they stopped letting those in. If you want that mount let me know and I'll help. 0 -
I had a 180 series and had issues with the diameter of the peep. There are replacements available for just that, or if you want a larger peep, simply drill it out to your specs. 0 -
had these on my mini's.

Thanks for all of the replies....I believe I will go with the B-Square scope mount. I just ordered open rear peep sights from a company in South Carolina called Tech-Sights...anyone trying to find a replacement sight for 180 series Mini-14's should look into their products. 0 -
I have lots of 180 series parts including sights 0 -
If you can find one, probably on an auction site somewhere, Ram Line used to make a hooded rear sight aperture that replaced the original rear sight (just the aperture blade) on 183 series Mini-14's. I put one on mine and still have it. The hole is about half the size of the original and works quite well to tighten up your groups.
Good luck. It sounds like exactly what you're looking for if you can find one.0
