Look at the posts above yours that are marked sticky These are FAQ one is how to post pictures. You need photobucket or other Picture hosting Site YOU CAN NOT down load pictures directly from your computer.

More then likely the front sight your describing is whats known as a "Globe" sight.

In this photo off the net is a modern made reproduction that folds and has two different front sight blades.

Yours might be one of the originals that didn't fold, that why we need quality photos of your rifle. The globe and tang sights were options on original Winchesters. They will increase collectors value if they are factory original and in VG condition.

rufe-snow-as soon as I can work out this photo thing I will send out some pictures. You are right mine does not fold down. The round part is about the size of a pencil with a very small sight inside. The bottom mount for the sight is really wide, that is way I think it was used for wind adjustment.
The back sight just rides on two rails and a finger adjustment. there are no numbers or name on the sight but I haven't taken it off the gun to see if something might be under the base.
    Thanks

Well didn't have any luck with photo's. I think I found the front sight in a Dixie book. I would guess the rear came from the same place. Damn the luck.

Lot of the stuff that Dixie sold in their later catalogs were foreign made repos. Best to get a hands on with a pro. If the Globe front and Tangent rear are original and came from Winchester, it would increase the value of the rifle substantially.
