According to the Blue Book of Gun Values the Model 37 "Rangemaster" was made from 1937-40. They also list a Model 37-1940 that was manufactured from 1940 to 1954. A total of 12,198 Model 37's were produced. You can interpolate and get a general idea of the production date. I know of no source of dates of manufacture listed by serial number for Remington guns.

Herschel is absolutely correct. Your barrel may be missing letters- but they are very small, very close to receiver- have had to take one out of the wood to read. Oblique light and magnifier help.

JUST TO NOTE: THE REM.37 BARREL CODES ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RECEIVER (UNLIKE MOST OTHER REMINGTONS)I'LL GUESS YOUR'S WAS MGF. ABOUT 1939/40 (I have #7000, mgf. 1/1948).
edit "According to the Blue Book of Gun Values the Model 37 "Rangemaster" was made from 1937-40."........I believe they were ALL called "the rangemaster" mine is so marked.
