ar style 308 cal. reloading ?
I have a customer with a colt ar style rifle, LE901, and he read some where on the net that you have to use special primers when reloading for these rifles to prevent slam-firing, is there any truth to this? and if so what kind of primers should he use? thanks

Hmmm, for what it's worth, I've never heard that...I have a DPMS LR-308 (AR style .308 win) and I use standard Winchester large rifle primers and have never had a problem. 0 -
Look at using CCI. They are harder than Winchester. 0 -
I have shot a lot of ammo from AR style 7.62 rifles, both factory and reloads and never had any issues with slamfires. The same concern could be made for M1A rifles that also have free floating firing pins. 0 -
If you are concerned about slamfires avoid the very soft Federal primers. 0 -
CCI makes a small rifle primer, #41 and a large rifle primer, #34 especially for use in self-loading rifles to avoid slam-fires. 0 -

I use these specifically for my AR and M1 rifles. No problems! Good stuff!0 -
I use Winchester large rifle primers in my M14. No slam fires yet.... 0 -
winchesters work just fine, stay away from federals. 0
