Rogers & Spencer Revolver's-tell me what you can

Friends,

I have this pair of non functional Rogers & Spencer revolvers. I know absolutely nothing about them. Can anyone tell me anything about them, and the "US" marked holster's that accompny them?

  Rogers & Spencers were made in Utica, NY, 15 miles from where I grew up. They never really saw service in the Civil War because they came out too late in 1865 so the government scrapped them and sold them to Francis Bannerman & Son in NY.
  
  It's not unusual to find them in excellent or even unissued condition. Yours, of course, are an exception but still collectible.

  The holsters seem to resemble those used much later by the US military. Rather then the ones used in the Civil War. I got this photo off the net of a what I believe is a Model 1917 holster. It might have been a type utilized much earlier in the Indian wars though.

  The holsters appear to be US Cavalry Indian Wars era, late 1870's-late 1880's.
