I was wondering of the model 55 had a tang sight option and who was the maker of the sight?

  Yes, the Model 55 was factory drilled & tapped for a tang sight, and it was a special order option to have one installed. Winchester installed a Lyman No. 1A tang sight unless the order specifically requested a different tang sight.
  
  I am conducting a research survey for the Model 55, and would like to know what the serial number and caliber is on your rifle. With the serial number, I can provide an exact date of manufacture.
