primers
I am a newbie to reloading so please do not laugh. I am going to reload for a 45 auto and a 380 auto. I plan on using Winchester primers. Large pistol for the 45 Auto? Small pistol for the 380 Auto? mttrapper[:)]

i'm on the hunt for hulls that take a #57 and/or #157 primer. i can use 12/20/28/410 ga hulls 0 -
small for the 380.
But 45 ACP use large and small.
it's best to sort the 45's, i have found about 95%+ are large.0 -
I think you are correct. Some of the non toxic loads for 45 acp use small pistol primers. Your loading data should list the primers and the case. 0 -
Thanks for the help. mttrapper 0 -
A reloading manual will answer questions like this and should be your first choice for answers. 0 -
I have heard that the new non toxic primer may have a "shelf life" and may not last as long as the old design primers. I have not been able to really read any data on this.
Anyone out there know, for sure?0 -
If there is a shelf life the ones I got were past their experation date.
The "eviromentally friendly" ones I got were junk from the get go.
Edit: They were very week and very inconsistant. Equivalant powder charge with other primers functioned flawlessly and gave MUCH higher velocities.
I certainly hope they have improved them.0
