Beretta first. Less recoil. Benelli next with a ported tube.

Benelli is my choice. I have a Super Black Eagle that has been serving me for years. I use it for doves, duck and geese. It has never needed any repairs and has a set of 5 chokes.

I know you think you know what you want but 3 1/2 is a waste of money with extensive recoil. IMO

Winchester SX2 or SX3, either one are great guns and I have both. Golfer boy made a good point, however you don't always have to shoot 3.5" shells but you do have the option if you want to.

Yeah, there seems to be a constant argument on the need to shoot 3.5 shells.
I keeping hearing this phrase in the back of my mind - "Go big or go home!"
My local gun dealer hasn't had much luck with his Super Black Eagle, and has suggested that I take a look the Beretta shotguns.

Impossible to recommend without knowing what action you want.

I am quite happy with my Mossberg 835's. My son purchased a Remington 887 2 years ago and is content with it and its issues. His 887 shoots good and he likes it but I had to do some work on it last year near the end of waterfowl season and he said it is starting to do the same again this year. Has a problem with some soft metal parts coupled with a poor design. The Mossberg 835 may not be considered quality by some but I've had one for about 20 years with no issues.

    +1000

    First I had a 870 Super Mag....kicked like a mule.

Sold it and bought a Beretta Xtrema, much better but didn't make any difference in what I hit. I still missed as much as with a 3".

3" cost less & kicks less. YouR money, do what you want. I'm just saying I did the same thing you did & I'm passing on what I learned.

Also, any one who thinks they need 3 1/2" slugs are NUTS![:o)]

I had a Beretta Pintail 3" that was a dream to shoot. It was inertia operating.

I sold it to my brother & I bought a Xtrema, sold it & bought a Beretta Urika Gold Sport. My son will get it when I die, unless I decide to be buried with it.[:D]

In IL you have to use slugs, ML, or pistol. This gun takes a $300 cantilever barrel, that Xtrema slug barrel was $700 if you could get one.
