cleaning stainless browning

i have a lever takedown in stainless. the sides of the receiver look dirty. any sugesstions on cleaning it?4o wool doesn't touch it.thanks

    Do not use regular 0000 Steel wool. Stainless steel wool is ok, but regular will impregnate the stainless with microscopic ferrites, and you will not like the results, down the road.

    Can't think of the name, but the same folks that male a lead removing cloth also make one for cleaning stainless.

    We found that a 150grit sanding sponge matches the Smith&Wesson stainless finish exact, just go lightly ith it untill you get a match [^]

    Flitz works on stubborn cylinder rings on my 629 cylinders, makes them look like new. It might work for your Browning.

    If it's not clean by now...

    You don't need anything abrasive just find a product called ROR (Residual Oil Remover) by V-VAX Products ROR.net. We use it to clean our HD television camera lenses. You may be able to find it in a camera store, use it to clean your scopes, binos and rinse out your microfibers and hang to dry they will be like new.

    But for Stainless Steel...

    Spray some on a dry cleaning patch and wipe it down should take very little time to get down to the issue and clean it factory new. In my experience on matte SS it takes very little scrubbing to remove the guilty party. Once you are satisfied with your progress make sure to get oil right back on the steel for protection.
