Value of custom built Smith and Wesson Model 15

Would anyone know the value of a custom built Smith and Wesson Model 15-3. It has a six inch heavy slab side barrel with custom Weaver mount and bobbed hammer. It was custom built by Robert's Custom guns in St. Louis. There is an engraved name on the barrel.

Nice looking revolver. Must have cost a pretty penny for the custom work, that was done on it. Not the easiest to sell though, unfortunately, IMHO. Appears it started out to be PPC gun, and a scope and mount has been added.

no, the gun was built with the mount and it does have a Gil Hebard scope.

Custom match pistols will very seldom bring the cost of building the pistol[:(] . Sort of like Custom Cars . UNLESS it is built by Famous Builder . I have dozens so ask me how I know. Most of mine I either built for my own use or I purchased as a memento from shooters that I had shot with before they retired. 0 -

Is that an actual barrel or a shroud over the stock barrel?
The reason I ask is that it appears to have the stock S&W rear sight.

I'd say that, since the scope is marked "Burris", it's more likely to be a Burris scope.
It's difficult to estimate the value of a unique gun, especially one with A LOT of wear on it. I would expect it to sell in the $200-300 range if you listed it on GB.

I purchased optics from Heberd years ago, but none had the name of his gunshop engraved on them. Interesting. I agree that most of what has been changed from original detracts from, rather than adds to, the value. 0 -

I just uploaded the picture of scope eyepiece showing the name. Also
the gun has only had a few hundred rounds through it and the bluing
is fine. There is only one scratch on it. It is very accurate.0 -
Thanks for posting the additional photos.
The Chamber/Star edges have been chamfered, which was common practice for PPC revolvers to aide in rapid reloading. It is unwise (unsafe) to fire anything but mid-range 38 target loads in this firearm. There is a risk of rupturing the cartridge case at it's base if full power rounds are fired.
I'll have to agree w/ nmyers about the price range. As Perry also said, custom competition pistols rarely resell for near their original cost.
