32 H&R Long compatability with 32 S&W Long

Can a 32 S&W Long blackpowder cartridge be fired in a 32 H&R Long blackpowder revolver? The 32 H&R Long cartridge was discontinued around 1905 after the 32 S&W Long became predominant. I have a 1887 6-shot H&R revolver chambered for 32 S&W and 32 H&R Long. Dimensions on 32 H&R Long and 32 S&W Long are very similar.
