be made from 300 savage brass?

Can 303 Sav be made from 300 Sav?

  You can buy 250 Savage brass, probably over on the auction side. I have bought lots of it on GB.

  303 Savage is similar in size to the .30-30 family, with a smaller length and rim diameter. While the rim and length can be made smaller, the killer for the conversion is it has a one-of-a-kind body diamter of .442". This is smaller than the .303 British (.455")or .30-40 Krag (.458"), but is larger than the .30-30, .32 Win, .38-55, .25-35 etc at .422" (.419" for .38-55, and .417" for the rare .32-40). You can't squish the body down at the rim, and the cases may split open in the larger chamber if .30-30 sized brass is used.
  
  .300 Savage has same rim and lower body diameters as the .250-3000, but the ,250 is a bit longer (.250 is maxed at 1.912" compared to the .300 at 1.871")
  
  .250 is still cataloged in places, IMHO I agree with the above posts; it's easier to look for it than to make it.

  A barrelmaker friend of mine recommended that brass for the 250 Ackly Improved be made from the 300 rather than the 250 because the 250 has more taper at the front of the web, which means to me that since the 300 has less taper through the web, that forming it to the standard 250 would require a lot of effort to swage the web to a smaller diameter at its leading edge. It could be done, but I suspect by about the fifth case you'll be looking to buy some.

  The book says they can be made from 30-06 brass..
  Trim to 2.00 run it into a 7x57 die, then full length size in a 250-3000 die.
  Trim to 1.91, and ream the neck for a .257 bullet.....

  the 'easyest' would be to just buy .250 brass & fire form, 2nd would be to start with .257 roberts brass and trim

  I'm surprised no one has mentioned it! Neck up .22/.250 brass; after all, it started life as necked down .250. But as has been said, .250 Savage brass is findable. If you've got a bunch of .300 Savage brass, put it on the auction side--I'll bid on it.

  Gotta go with Ambrose on this one. It's a pretty common pick-up brass on the ranges I've been on.
  
  Next, and by far the most common is .308 brass. That way you don't have to worry about short brass. You still need to trim and turn the necks though.
  
  I'd start with any Mauser cases and work with those before you tried bringing down a 30-06 sized case. You could incidentally, work with any of the 30-06 sized cases.

  I have 2 boxes of 303 that I have no use for. If it were not such a hassle to ship, I would put it up for auction. I do not have a ups hub near me.
  
  I also have a box of .250 savage once fired cases. I know they are once fired because I fired them in a custom mauser rifle.
