Interarms Mark X Rifle ???

OK ,
Just had a customer bring in a Interarms Mark X bolt action rifle in the 7.62X39 cal. with a syn stock and a Bushnell scope , will rate 95% Plus cond. !
I bought it !
Now , cant seem to find one on the auction side ???
Whats this this really worth ???

    Is this is one that looks like a Mauser 98.? If so then same action built in
    Yugoslavia and sold for a few years lately by Remington Good actions many used to build custom rifles on

    It's made by Zastava and it's one of the original 'mini-Mausers' that were part of the large/small <(aka 'mini') action Mausers imported under the name of Interarms.

    As noted, very underrated rifles. These generally run closer to $600 when you see them come up. They are pretty much the same thing as a Remington 799 chambered in 7.62x39.

    There is a major difference though, IIRC. The true mini-Mauser had a reduced sized CRF claw type extractor(?) The Remington 799 has what sort of looks like a claw extractor, but is in fact just a piece of the bolt (guide?). The Rem 799 uses an M16 style extractor, except it's a lot longer than the AR15/M16.

    Zastava was a Yugoslavian company. It is located in that part of the former Yugoslavia that became Serbia. Same company, same great action.

    Do note though that these are downsized actions not true Mauser sized actions. They also make a full sized Mauser action. And FWIW, they came along long after Roy Weatherby started building actions on M98's and 1903's

    Yes, the Zastava. And after Interarms, Charles Daley imported them for a while, and then Remington (hte 798 and 799). Current importer for the centerfire is Century, and they do have the 762x39 again. Gonna try and save my nickles and get one at some point.

    they are very nicely made, if you are talking the Mauser 98 pattern, but Interarms if memory serves, is made in one of the eastern Euro countries, then imported by the UK into the USA ? I'd have to look it up again- IMHO not quite a good as an FN Belgian or German made Mauser. I've seen many at gun shows in the $400-$500 and up range but never bought one.

    the best Mausers IMO are the German made ones, that's why Roy Weatherby used them for his magnum actions at first- they were also stronger than the FN actions as well.

    FWIW, though none of that applies to the particular action we are talking about, as it post dates Weatherby and all the original Mausers. This was for the most part one of the last civilian model 98's on the market. And it's downsized specifically for the smaller cartridges.
