M1A1 Carbine Original Worth?

Refinished and original are contradictory terms so far as collectible firearms are concerned because any firearm that has been refinished is going to be worth less than even a worn original example. Without seeing some photos and a detailed description of the parts values are hard to estimate.

Need to see some good photos. Arsenal refinished is not original. A truely original carbine with all the correct parts is extremely rare. Manufacturer also determines price. There are a lot of arsenal refinished guns out there and they bring good prices today. Truely untouched origials bring a lot more.

    Bob,

CMP sold a lot of these rifles on their web site, go to auctions and you should be able to look at past auctions for the M1A1 Carbine and they were going for just about at market. You will have to learn to use the features of the auction but should be able to find what you want.

I have a late war M1A1 Carbine (original) and am wondering the value on something like this? The rifle has been arsenal refinished and the barrel date is November 44. Bore is very good and not worn. Stock is original with correct rivets, etc. Gun is easily 85-90%.

value has dropped down a bit lately, on most WWI WWII era milsurps
