Looking for advice on purchasing a Winchester model 21. I have read extensively on this model and would like opinions from those who have experience with them. Are they really "Winchester's Finest"?

I saw a factory original M 21 3" 12 ga a while back- asking price was $3500. I forget the serial number but it seems it was made about the time of WWII. It had been well used but not abused. I'd think several times before I'd fire a 1 7/8oz load in a gun with only a 13"LOP.

    Paul,

The only way that you can get the date of manufacture and the "as built" configuration is to pay the Cody Firearms Museum for a factory letter ($85 for non members). You can use this web link - http://www.bbhc.org/explore/firearms/firearms-records/

Model 21 12-ga shotguns with 3" chambers are not uncommon. The Duck grade guns were to the best of my knowledge all made with the 3" chambers.
