Rossi plinker for sister?
My 50yr old kid sister has decided to take up shooting not only for protection but as a hobby.
I am encouraging her to shoot.
The problem is she is mooching up my supply of 38spc +p hollow points.
I suggested her practicing with a 22lr gun now that she has familiarized herself with her carry gun(Ruger 357 2" revolver).
She said okay you got one?
Although I have plenty of 22 ammo Im not about to allow her to use my NIB SW 41 or NIB woodsman.
I want her to continue shooting and am looking to purchase a new 22 revolver for her.
I cant spend much on it($400 or less).Id like to here comments on the Rossi Plinker.

Although I've haven't had positive results with the Taurus/Rossi revolvers, other folks have. More important nowadays with the gun panic, is availability. If you can get one for her at a reasonable price go for it. Hopefully when things get back to normal and she don't like it, she can trade up to a better quality revolver or pistol. 0 -
Heritage arms.
Worth every penny.
But not a lot more.
Her groups will be comparable to a 38 spcl with a 2" barrel.0 -
I bought a new taurus 22magnum snubby 3 or 4 years ago.
It keyholed ever shot,the adj. rear sight would come loose after just a few shots,and miss fired 10%-20% regardless of ammo type.
I couldnt get rid of it fast enough.
I know a guy that claims his new 4" Rossi Plinker is an excellent shooter and has no complaints with it after a full day of shooting.
I am hoping to get comments from Plinker owners.

I cannot speak to the quality or the Rossi directly .That being said I have one of the TAURUS 1911S going on 4 years old .Never fails to shoot and no problems at all. Son-in-law bought one of the tip-up barrel 22s ,not sure of the model number,which so far is shaping up to be a good gun. 0 -
I picked up a 4" Plinker a month back, but haven't had a chance to fire it yet. The fit & finish is OK. Trigger doesn't feel bad, a little roughness but will probably smooth out after firing a few cylinders. Everything seems tight on lockup with no wobble. It's a little on the heavy side at 29 oz but that might be good if it matches the weight of her Ruger. The fiber sights are great, and I think I like the Ribber style grip (my first gun with it and it does feel a little odd). I wish I could tell you more about it's accuracy! 0 -
I don't own, and have never shot the Rossi.
I have shot a few, and even own one, of the High Standard Sentinels and like them.

What model Ruger does she have?
If she has a Ruger Sp101 as her carry gun, the best practice gun would be the same gun in .22LR.
Ruger does make (or has made) a .22LR SP101. They're not cheap, but they'll last forever, and I think that would be a good choice.
Edit: Looks like price on these is close to $600. That may bust your budget, but IMO its probably worth it.0 -

Are they single action?
I want to keep things simply for her.
So far what she has fired is a double action Ruger SP 101.

More than I want to pay but it would beat spending 400 for a bad gun.
Iam still hoping to hear from guys that have put more than a few rounds thru thier Rossi Plinker.

I have a high standard HD military semi but hadnt considered a HS revolver.
It seems like the best option to me.(reliable,affordable & even somewhat collectable).0 -
I would suggest looking at the "999" or the Sportsman. 9 shot revolver and either single or double action. Something like this:
