gun broker ???

where can I find a way to contact gun broker about an issue ? I have a seller going thru and bidding up other sellers auctions to the level of his buy it now prices. I have watched on four different auctions now. and somehow he never gets stuck buying someone eleses auction. I am calling him on it if I can find out how to get an email to the auction site!

    What's the complaint?? He is driving UP your price. If it helps him, it is good. He must be willing to pay your price if he is high bidder.

    a. Not your auction, none of your business. (IE if he's not bidding on something you're selling, I dont see how you have standing to complain about this).

    If the guy were bidding on his OWN auctions to drive up the price (effectively to act as a "secret" reserve), that's "shill" bidding, its prohibited by GunBroker rules, and its a problem. But that's not what's happening here.

    b. What difference does it make anyway? Either the bidder is winning auctions or he isn't. You say he isn't. So where is the harm here? He's not forcing anyone else to alter their behavior. How do you know this bidder doesn't legitimately want to buy these items at his bid price?

    If bidding on auctions without winning were "wrong" then 99% of the bidders on this site would be doing something wrong. I probably bid on 25x as many guns as I actually win. So what? That's how auction sites work, and that's how the true market value of guns is actually reached. . .by people "low-ball" bidding to try and grab a bargain, until the bid reaches the fair market value.

    If this bidder were winning auctions this way good for him. If he's winning, but not paying, then there is a problem here, because he's depriving real bidders a chance of winning and messing up the market. In that case seller would have a legitimate beef with him, and GunBroker WILL take care of that.

    Sooner or later it will bit him in the butt. But I can see the advantage of running up the other guys similer items to close to his. It negates the penny start advantage and people may opt to use a BIN just a little higher than current bids on another gun.
    As it lessens the bidding on a bargain aspect of low price items people are going to look harder at his. It's a gamble but with the current AR market I could see definite possibilities if you had ARs to sell and money to risk in driving the bid guns up and your BIN is slightly more reasonable than the going rate and your doubling your money. But till he fails to pay for a won item I don't know that it is wrong.

    That activity describes "shill bidding" regardless.

    Shill bidding is crooked bidding.

    Most shill bidders see nothing "wrong" with shill bidding - mainly because they are crooks.

    In the "old days" shill bidders got their just deserves. They got beat, tarred and feathered, shot and/or hung.

    These days it seems that shill bidders just get their dessert and tend to flock together onto "_bay" and cloister closer in . . .

    Crooks usually see nothing wrong with being crooked . . . and they have no problem . . . the problem of course are them honest folks.
