A friend of mine has a Model 870 Express...when the slide is forward totally closed hard...the action will not lock and it will open without pressing the unlock release. Any suggestions...and will it fire if round is in chamber when trigger is pulled and off safety?
THANKS!!!0 -
Can you load the magazine?
When cycling the action, does the shell come out of the magazine?
If so, does it fail to feed up because the lifter isn't working?
Have you tried installing the other trigger group you were comparing and checking function?0 -
I would have to believe the original damage which is quite out of the ordinary. Caused internal damage to parts over and above those that have been replaced. Try actually swapping out trigger group from a 870 that is functioning, to ascertain if the original follower/lifter mechanism has been compromised. 0 -
Swapped trigger groups, both work in the undamaged 870, neither work in the damaged one. Shells will not feed out of the magazine. Still scratching my head. 0 -

Might be whatever caused the original damage, also affected the receiver.
Use a black sharpie pen or lay-out blue on the moving parts, such of the cartridge follower/lifter. In both 870's. See if the wear patterns show obvious binding in the damaged 870.0 -
Compare the shell stops in both with the trigger groups out. Sounds like one is bent. 0
