1860 Henry

Sirs,

Can ya'll tell me what would be an average price range for this firearm?
I'm not talking about a repro.
Just a good ballpark figure for one authentic model, in average shape/condition.

  I need some advice on a Henry rifle. A friend of mine gave me this old rifle without a stock some time back.The receiver is brass. He found it in an attic of a house he was restoring. the ser. no. is 31xx.
  
  It has all the orignial looks of a 1860 Henry.
  
  It's in pretty good shape, except it has now stock. Do you know of any sources for old parts, or will I have to get one made?

  Only time I've seen one outside of a museum is at a small general store in Congress, AZ. Owner had a gun collection in the basement. Some stuff he would sell and an original Henry had a price tag of $16,000. It was in what I would consider good condition.

  I don't know why I didn't find the one posted, maybe I was looking at the Spencers then. Hey it may just be my senility.[:)]
  
  Anyway it is just a "bucket list" kinda thing.
  
  I would add a nice "Stella" $4 gold as well.
  
  There are worse investments and the fiscal institutes sure don't want to pay anything for your money.

  It is next to impossible to find a decent Henry for under $30K these days. The last two that I sold went for $37K and $48K (at the Cody WACA show in 2009 and 2010 respectively).

  I have seen as many as 6-8 Henry's for sale at the annual Maryland Arms Collectors Assoc show in Timonium, MD, every March. Prices, as I recall, were in the $15,000-60,000 range. And, most are still offered, year after year, by the same dealers.
  
  As with most expensive collectible guns, you must be intimately familiar with known genuine items, or you are likely to be fleeced when you buy.
