Help me price this AR15, mismatched parts.... pics

Hello,
Please help me price this AR I'm considering trading for:

CMMG lower, DPMS AR-15 Lo-Pro Flat-Top Upper Assembly 223/556 in 1 in 9" Twist 16" Bull Barrel Chrome Moly Matte with GlacierGuard Handguard, complete with Bullet button. It is full flat top. detachable carry handle. brand new and unfired.

The owner wants $1300.00 for it. I'm thinking about trading one of my guns that is worth the same but I don't want to "overpay" in the trade

Your feedback is appeciated. What is this really worth? with things re ARs going crazy lately I'd like to hear from people that know.

I was at a show last month and talked to a guy who sold one of his builds. He told me he got $1800 for it. With the current crazyness $1300 doesn't seem to bad, in light of that. But you have to think what is going to happen 6 months down the road, when the panic subsides. Likely your going to be stuck with some guys kitchen table home build, that you payed $500 to much for.

The "Bullet Button" sounds that your from Cali. Likely thing are different there. Maybe it would be wiser to buy over priced AR's, while you can still get your hands on them.

I don't know if DPMS made this configuration of upper at the factory. It's possible they did and if so, I'd not see the combo as a real problem. I used a similar upper receiver to complete an upper using Colt parts that shoots fine. As for the lower, it does look like it's assembled using parts from different places. The useability is probably as good as a factory job since there's not much diff between parts from one or another place and not much you can do wrong during installation.
Depends on whether you want an AR to use, to look at, or as trade goods. I've assembled over a dozen AR's and have not failed to produce a workable rifle but as some have pointed out, most of them will have a lower resale value than a matched up factory made gun.
In my opinion, the 16" bull barrel is the least useful profile on the market even though that was the first AR I ever owned(or maybe because it was the first one I ever owned and didn't know better).

Add up the cost of the parts and then add an estimated value for assembly. The reciever would be the hardest part to value as they have dried up.

As stated earlier, the heavy barrel with a collapsible stock is not a very ergometric setup.

If the "builder" actually assembled the upper, you have no way of knowing if he installed the barrel & headspaced it correctly. (Or, if he damaged the receiver.)

I'm always worried about Mixed Parts Mongrels of unknown origin, unless they are dirt cheap, which this one isn't. I'd rather pay more for a factory rifle, preferably in the original box.

This is an $800 tops rifle in a $1200 economy. If it was assembled as a complete upper on a complete lower is one thing. If it's some home brew is another. Unknown is the quality of the build. It depends on how bad you want it and the gun you'd be trading + cash. As others have said in 6 months or so what is it's worth gonna be. This really holds true if 6 months from know you decide it's not the cup of tea you thought it was. And for the record that scope is worth about $25. Good luck

id wait if you can

that'll be 900 rifle soon, then a $750 one in a year

How bad do you want the rifle????? I personally think it is not worth but 800 bucks. Don't panic buy if you can wait a few months or even a year. I was going to buy one for my son, but will wait for the price to get back to reality first. I just can't stand being gouged, especially for someone's kitchen table build.

Thank you guys for the replies. I'm in no rush to get it, I guess I was just getting caught in the panic. I'll just wait until thinks calm down, and I do have an AK47 to calm my semi-auto rifle anxieties in the mean time.

Now another thing comes to mind:
A lot of people that did stock up will likely start selling once the panic subsides or maybe a little later... so there'll be lot of ARs for sale, probably for good prices, don't you think?

Its 400 high right now..Watching auction side so a Doublestar go for 800 and a DPMS with extras for 900.
