What do you guys think about FN. I was thinking about getting one. Any comments? How do they stack up to Sig, or H&K

Where can you find a original FN 49 scope and mount and how pricey are they? Thankyou Beltfed 0 -
M15X1 would be the standard threading for HK/CETME, Metric FAls, SIG AMT rifles as most other European military type semi autos, including the FN-49. 0 -
It means 15 threads per inch. I have a couple FN 49s but have not messed with the muzzle caps on them. 0 -

Thanks. Then could I presume an FH or brake for the HK/CETME would fit on an FN 49? Taking into consideration bore size - I don't want to send an 8mm bullet through a brake intended for a 223 or 308 diameter bullet. But a birdcage FH for the HK should work on the 49, yes?0 -

Mine has cap presently. I had one of the Numrich after market FHs years ago but can't find the darn thing. I bounce back & forth as to liking it with or without. Given what's happening in CA & the country now I suppose I need to be concerned about whether the FN is considered to have a "detachable magazine" when adding an FH. By present CA standards, it's not. But IIRC the 94 AW ban correctly ATF classified it as detachable. I guess we'll see what happens
SARCO is selling "new made" FHs for the FN 49, but they say nothing about bore diameter and look like the ones seen on 7mm Venezualan 49s. None of these parts is expensive, I suppose buying one of each might be best.0 -

For an American AR, not a European metric military firearm such as the HK91/G3 (or G1, R1, R3, FN-FAL, L1A1, L1A2...)

you either have to have Taps and Dies in BOTH U.S.Standard and Metric
or lathe setup for metric and U.S.
15 is 15mm or about .5906 or just under 5/8" (.625") So, it's just over 1/2 of an inch. And yes, the 1 is 1mm pitch (peak to peak of thread)0 -
A buddy of mine bought an FN that has a Hakim muzzle break on it, that someone figured would be a good addition. Screwed right on apparently without issue, the threads look normal. So that's one option if that's where you're going. 0 -
Please be aware 99 % of most threads on items in the World are Two types US STANDARD and METRICM15 X1 has nothing to do with INCHES IN ANY WAY the M=metric 15 is the diameter of the threaded Item in this case 24.5 MM -one inch so M15 is less then 1/2 inch . X1 is one thread in one MM or 1
