    The Middlestead and the Cheetah are based on the necked down .308, which is 1/2" shorter then the 06 brass. Nobody has necked down the 06 to .22, and lived to tell about it as far as I know.

    There is the .22 Newton which is slightly shorter than the original '06 case. Then there is the .22 Easley.

    I have found with projects such as this that Redding Hornady and Forster will all create a set of dies for you. As a matter of fact, CH4D lists the .22-06 as one of their die sets.

    There is no secret to operating a rifle chambered for the .22-06 at all. You need a couple of very specific types of powder and usually the heaviest bullets available for the .22 centerfire cartridges.

    Once they are formed he could use a standard neck die with appropriate bushing from LE Wilson, Cashmere,WA
