Colt Upper/Bolt
Hey folks! Anyone able to tell me what this is? I've never been very knowledgeable regarding rifles. How would you label it if you were selling it I guess it what I mean. The bolt has the marking C & MPC which I believe means it's a Colt. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks as always!

That's colt's way of saying it was tested by magnetic particle and passed. 0 -
If the bolt carrier isn't stamped with a C, it isn't a Colt.
No such thing as an AR-15A1; the upper may be an M16A1, but it should have C & M cast into the recess below the sight.

NOT necessarily. My M16 take-off has a C&H there [;)]
It looks just like the one pictured [^]0 -
The upper is a late '60's Colt M16A1 upper. The finish looks to be original, note that the lugs are black, and the rest of the finish on the upper is gray. Colt didn't use forge code uppers until 1971 or so. CM, CK and CH forge codes weren't produced until after 1970.
There should be a small triangle and square proof mark just forward of the ejection port on the right side. These are Colt's assembly and test fire proofs.
The forward assist isn't original, it would have had a teardrop A1 forward assist. Still needs standard A1 rear sight assembly, and an A1 port door with small rectangular pad.
The bolt is Colt. MP means Magnetic Particle tested, C stands for Colt. The carrier may be Colt even if not C marked on the side. Colt didn't start marking their carriers until 1968 when GM and H&R started producing M16A1 rifles. Pre-'68 Colt carriers are unmarked and should have round staking on top of the gas key, only 2 stakes, 1 per screw. If C marked, it is no doubt Colt. A C marked carrier and MPC marked bolt would be correct for a Colt A1 from 1968-'70.
As far as value goes, the upper is in excellent shape, original finish is a bonus.
Stripped no forge code Colt A1 uppers tend to be bringing $125-$150 or so with original finish. Add $35-$40 for the matching gray charging handle.
The BCG should bring around $225-$275.
Slip ring and barrel nut will add around $20-$30.
If you sell the lot as a package, I think you could get $400-$450 without any issues. Maybe a bit more to the right buyer looking to build an A1 clone.
