Star Model B

Anyone have any experience with the older Star 1911 clones? I'm looking at a Model BMin 9mm. Looks like a Commander size version of the model B. I picked up a full-sized 9mm in the late 60s and it was a nice piece. I don't remember what the model was but it was similiar to a 1911 but did not have a grip safety. I bought it for practically nothing and traded it later. Thanks

  The Model B was/is a good, reliable pistol. The Germans used some in WWII if that gives you any indication.

  I've had a couple of those that came from South American police forces. One had the barrel "modified" I assume to improve feeding. That one blew out the magazine and shattered the grips on the 3rd shot. I sent it back to SOG for replacement. The replacement and the others in the original order functioned well enough.
  I'd advise against using hot ammo in those older Star pistols.

  Dry firing it can break the firing pin.
