Auction auto relist question
I listed an AR on the auction for 7 days. When I set it up I went ahead and designated the auto relist. The auction ended yesterday with no bids and it relisted. I went to the edit area and lowered the price. Then a few hours later I checked and I had a bid, but to my surprise I notice the action relisted for 1 day and was ending in a few hours. What happened? And I can't chnage it now that I have a bid? Item #328218722

I looked and it says it is a 7 day auction that started on 02/02/130 -
Whatever it originally was listed as it automatically relists as.. I have auto relisted stuff for years without problems.. 0 -
I did a search of completed items on your title and it showed nothing to unless you changed the title it doesn't seem it ever relisted. The auction you show is a 7 day auction 0 -
Only problem I've ever had with the relist feature has been it not re-listing. I actually think it has been an error on my part because I've caught myself recently clicking to relist till sold and not clicking the relist box above or click the first and not the sub choice. I couple of times I've had items stop re-listing, but I'm not sure that I didn't limit it myself. Hasn't really mattered because it is simple to relist with edit and get things on the right track again. 0 -

Here is what happened.
You went in and lowered the price of your existing live auction a day or two before it's 7 day duration was up.
HOWEVER, You never actually canceled the current auction (after editing it). Hence, it just continued to run for the original 7 day duration that you originally set the auction up for. (Note: That is why it did not run for a fresh new set of 7 consecutive days after you edited the price.)
An interested bidder that was 'watching' your auction (probably had it bookmarked for quick reference), saw the price drop and placed a bid at around 3 pm on Friday afternoon. Your auction correctly ended exactly 7 days after you listed it, at 1:08 am, Saturday morning, exactly when it was supposed to end.
You think that your auction automatically relisted for a day, but that is not the case. Your auction only ran once. You can search the completed auctions. The auction ran the full 7 days, exactly how you set it up.
If you wanted the new lower priced auction to run a full 7 days from the date that you changed/edited the price, YOU WOULD HAVE NEEDED TO CANCEL THE EXISTING AUCTION. THEN RE-LIST SAID AUCTION with the new, lower price.
You can't relist an existing auction. The GB software doesn't allow it. However, you can relist an auction that has already ended.
I think this was a just a case of operator error. Based on your feedback number, you are likely still familiarizing yourself with the GB auction software.
If you explain to the bidder what happened, he might be understanding of the situation, and not hold you to honor the winning bid.

Yes, he was understanding and said he would forget about it. But, now do I owe the full price for a SOLD gun? I have sent GunBroker to inquiries as to what happened and have heard nothing from them.
