  I actually checked that prior to posting. There seemed to be plenty of 4" barrels and my understanding is that the 2.5" barrels are worth more. So i decided to post here.

  I think the original Smith wood grips would be worth more than the Pachmayr replacements, so that's a bit of a ding.
  
  As you say, short barrel adds about $100 over the much more common 4" bbl guns. (6" bbl would also be worth a bit more, though I think not quite so much more as the shorter 2.5").
  
  Your bowling ball shiny black is called a "blue" finish, and that's standard on these. A nickle finish would be rarer and worth more.
  
  If you did have an adjustable front sight, that would be interesting (those can be found on some silhouette revolvers), but since it ain't true, we can skip that.
  
  Assuming the gun has a tiny bit of normal use wear, (call it 98%), and you lack the original box and papers (which would significantly increase value to a collector), you're looking at maybe $550 give or take $50.
  
  This is really a nice gun for home defense, for "glovebox", or even concealed carry (if you're willing to carry a medium frame revolver). Since these older Smiths are only continuing to appreciate with time, and since "they don't make em like that anymore" (and never will again), if I were you, I wouldn't sell yours unless you really needed the money.

  The light and enlarged iphone photo makes the blueing look a little off. Its probably 98% its a pretty bad pic in fact.
  
  Not planning on selling, Going with another insurance Co. and want to set its worth accurately.
  
  Original grips would be good to have but the person i inherited this from years ago was a competition shooter and preferred the upgrades.
  
  I use an auto loader for concealed carry. This wheel gun is a brick compared to my HKc 45
