1940's Remington made Browning A5 16ga - Finish ?
I got a chance to look at a really nice Browning A5 16ga made by Remington during the Nazi occupation of the FN factory in Herstal, Belgium. The finish on the receiver has me puzzled, however. I inspected the markings and bluing on the barrel and receiver with a magnifying glass, and it looks to be original, not refinished.
The receiver has typical gloss blue on the sides and bottom, but the top and rear of the receiver and the rear tang looks like it was bead blasted before finishing, kind of pebble textured. Is this commonly found on the Remington made A5's from the 1940's? I was going to trade some parts for it, but was hesitant about the receiver finish, so I told the guy I'd get back with him on it.

I have owned Remington made Brownings before and they had the same finish is pictured in your post. That is indeed a nice gun. 0
