Who stamps Winchester serial numbers?
Have a nice 1886 Winchester. Need to have the serial numbers re rolled on. Any one have a good contact?? Thanks Paul

Usully on any firearms forum the mention of doing anything to a serial number is met with a chorus of posts that such an act is a federal crime and must not be done what so ever?!? 0 -

In this case it wouldn't because what he needs isn't illegal. Antiques can have serial numbers but it's not required. Just re rollstamping the original number is just for asthetics although serious Winchester collectors might not like that.0 -
They are not required on antiques but my understanding is that if it has a serial # it is illegal to alter or remove it. Not sure if re doing the original # would be a problem or not. Logic says no problem but the government and logic do not always go together. 0
