280 brass
Got me a new 280 ordered so I'm getting my supplies ready to start reloading for it. I'm finding out most of the brass available for sale is nickel plated, why? Is it better than regular brass? Is it easier or harder to reload, does it last longer? Any experience with nickel brass would be appreciated.

nickled brass has +'s & -'s, it is harder than regular brass and doesn't reload as many times but...it does feed better (slicker) and doesn't tarnish as easy (looks nicer, longer[:D]). I use it for most of my hunting loads. 0 -
Nickeled wouldn't be my first choice unless it was for a weaker extraction system as found on NEI break action rifles. With them the slickness helps. 0 -
Most of the nickeled rifle caliber brass I have come across comes from the higher-end "premium" ammo lines. I'll reload them if I get them, but I don't specifically go for them first. 0 -
Thanks guys, great info. 0 -
Pesronally, I like nickel plated brass. It makes some very good looking reloads especially with polymer tipped bullets. I don't reload cases often-meaning I don't take 20 cases and try to load them 10 times each,I take 100 cases and reload each twice. I seldom have to cull a nickel case and when I do, it's a primer pocket fault. 0
