Will a long slide from a Lyman 48 fit in the groove of a Lyman 35 sight? Thanks.

Unfortunately Stroebl's book on "Old Gunsights", doesn't address if the dovetails? for the elevation slide are the same for the 35 & 48.
He shows cuts from the original adds when they were sold. Although the slides appear similar. The 35 has a manual locking lever, that engages a flat surface on the elevation slide. Whereas the 48 appears to be a conventional tapered dovetail. As these are only hand drawn advertising cuts not actual photos, it impossible to say if this was artistic license?0 -
Unfortunately, no; #48 slide will NOT fit a #35. The #35 is a rather scarce sight, and I know of no other sight's parts that will fit it - have owned both at one time. 0 -
Being as the 35 slide is going to be hard to find ,do you think a 48 could be modified to work? and if not what would the sight be worth without the slide.I have it on an old Mauser I bought? 0
