Contra-jet 45 compensator? ID

I have a compensator that I need help with iding. I would like to know what firearm it goes with, who the manufacture is and what the general value would be. It is stamped CONTRA-JET, 45, U.S. Pat. 3.187.633 any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are some pictures.

  The Contra-Jet muzzle brake was an aftermarket device for gunsmith installation on about any rifle. You can see that the ports are cut at angles. The advertising pitch was that the intersecting gas jets would "dissipate energy" and contribute to recoil reduction. It was also claimed to not increase muzzle blast.
  With a .45 passage, it would likely have been meant for a .458 Win Mag. They were available for most calibers.
  
  They cost $29.50 - $37.50 in 1973. I did not look through multiple old Gun Digests to see how long they were offered. I can't guess a resale value, suggest you look at current muzzle brakes.

  Looks more like a inner part to a "can". That brown fiber is that dust or a filter media from an oil filter?
