Need Help with ID
Customer just brought in an old single barrel Shotgun. The only markings are Full Choke on the barrel. Receiver on the left side has B&B and the words Bourne and Bond...Louisville, KY. Any help greatly appreceiated.

More then likely Bourne & Bond were retailers in Louisville, rather then the manufacturers. This type of marking found on utility shotguns and inexpensive .22 rifles. Are known to collectors, as Store Brand or Hardware guns. The manufacturers would mark the guns anyway the retailer desired, as long as they bought them in quantity. 0 -
Rufe...exactly. It is a contract gun. Bourne and Bond lived back in the early 1900`s in Ky. I need to know who mfg the gun so that I might find a forend for it. I was hoping someone out there would have some info on who made the dang thing. 0 -
Crescent was the usual suspect. Order 15 guns, and they would roll mark them however you wanted. Aunt Grannies Bait, Tackle & Funeral Parlor could sell guns with their very own name on them. And there were 100's of hardware stores that did just that. 0 -
If you have the Hard-ware for the Gun, then the wood can be made.

It tends to be difficult to pin down a manufacturer. This hardware store was in business for years. Whenever they wanted to get some more shotguns or 22 rifles. They would contact a number of different jobbers/distributors. Who ever gave them the best deal money wise, got the order.
You might consider posting some quality photos of the shotgun, hopefully one of our folks can recognize the manufacturer?0
