adjusting drop for shotgun

Just bought a Benelli 20gauge and will shoot skeet some with it. Did not know you could adjust the "drop" and "cast"( what Benelli calls it)till I bought it. How do I tell if I need to adjust the drop? I have not shot a shotgun in several years but want to start shooting a lot more.

  How does it fit you now? Play with the adjustments until it feels correct. I'd be adjusting for going from the ready position to the firing position with shirt/jacket I plan to wear at the range.

  Several of the Skeet shooters I used to shoot with had their guns custom fitted.

  Trial and error fitting will take quite a bit of time, in my opinion that is.

  That is kinda how I do it. Wearing hunting type clothing, I snap the gun to my shoulder and look down the sights. If I am not looking perfectly down the rib, then I adjust things to where it points exactly where you want it to.
  After you think you've got it, then repeat the steps above with your eyes closed, when you open them, you should be looking right down the rib.
  
  You will love the Benelli. I bought my Super Black Eagle in around 1991 and over the years I have bought and used perhaps 30 other shotguns but kept going back to the Benelli. In fact, it is now my only shotgun other than my Remington 1100 .410 that my wife shoots skeet with.

  As Bambihunter explained for the "cast" except I would add to look in a mirror to assure the center of your eye is in line with the rib. (right/left adjustment)
  
  The "drop" adjustment is really to how far above the bead you want the bird to sit. Most skeet shooters want it just above the bead (field shooter right on the bead, trap shooter float quite high of the bead).
  
  It changes the angle (up/down) of your shot pattern to your requirements.
  
  Good luck, good gun except you went for the 20 ga. which will limit you in many games, but usable in all.

  Just like a 20, my frist gun was a 20 gauge, single barrel, still have it.
