I have loads for the 38 S&W in a S&W Model 33. The 38 Short Colt is similar to the 38 S&W in capacity.

Cartridges of the World, General Coments says: Use the same loading data as the 38 S&W. Factory ballistics: 124 gr. lead bullet, MV 625 fps. The Lyman Reloading Handbook has 38 S&W loads for 121 and 133 gr. bullets at about that MV.

Great information. Thank you for that!

Have you tried a 158 gr lead bullet rather than the 125 to 130 gr range? Also the Speer reloading manual 13 has lead loads for the 38 S&W. I am using the 158 gr SWC and 2.5 gr 231 in my S&W 33 I picked up for $150. Really like the round although your 38 Short Colt sounds a little better as the case is the same diameter as the 38 Special and 357 Magnum and the bullet is .357 vs the .360-.361 for the 38 S&W.

I haven't tried anything yet. I haven't shot the factory box I have yet.
