Winchester 1897 forearm

Have Winchester 1897 16ga (1915 era) with alumimum forearm.
Is this forearm original or after market.
No visible screws.
Any info very welcome

  It is an aftermarket piece. Yours is the second one I have heard of. All factory original slide handle stocks were made of walnut. The visible screws were eliminated in June of 1904 (with the change from the "C" series to the "D" series guns. Your Model 1897 should be the later "E" series.

  thanks for info.
  Understand that alumimum was expensive back in 1915 and was wondering if Winchester used it or after market.
  Plan to re-place it with wood now
