Low wall block

I have an 1885, according to the book, made in 1886. It has a tall block. The gun was chambered in 32 long RF. But some clown,(not me) did a pretty crap job converting it to center fire.

I would think finding an original replacement block is pretty well out of the question. I could bush the face of the block and re-drill the firing pin hole.

I don' suppose anyone knows where i might find a replacement block

  I have a 1885 low wall that was originally 32 long RF, some one butchered the block to make it a 32 CF. I believe I can repair it. If I go back to Rim fire the gun sits, if I go to center fire I can use it. It's in decent but certainly not mint condition other than the block. Does the repair to the block knock it out of being original, if so I think center fire, Any suggestions. Thanks

  The breech block is already altered, so anything you do to it now is not going to affect it.

  Since it's already altered, further alteration shouldn't devalue it and could possibly increase its value. A gunsmith that specializes in 1885s should be able to cleanup and fit a bushing for a new boltface to accomodate either a rim or a centerfire cartridge and rebarrel it to the cartridge of your choice, making it an excellent though not original firearm.

  I have to be honest with you on this.
  The breechblock is in terrible, rusted and pitted unserviceable condition even if it had a functioning FP bushing & FP.
  Anything can be done but you wont like the cost of returning it to good condition.
  The breech face needs to be resurfaced by grinding or welding and grinding in addition to boring out for either CF or RF bushing.
  The breechblock rails are equally badly pitted.
  If this is typical of the rest of the gun, you need a serviceable breechblock and barrel at the very least. If the rail ways in the gun are in comparable condition, they need to be resurfaced, enlarging them. Breechblock rails will then have to be built up to get a close fit. Proper angles have to be maintained. If not, the breech face wont be at 90 degrees to the bore. You'll cock brass CF heads or maybe blow out RF case heads.
  I'd try and find a serviceable CF breechblock.
