Yes, just address it to yourself and only you open the package.
You are NOT transferring ownership, you are just shipping what you already own to be used elsewhere.
I have shipped rifles to my self many times for hunting trips out west,.

Since you live in a repressive state, be sure that you have the original documentation for the gun in your possession, just in case there is some need to discuss it with your state authorities.

Your address label should say, "TO: cer in care of John Doe, 1234 Main St, Fairbanks, AK 54321", or whatever, with your home information in the FROM block. Instruct Mr Doe NOT to open the package; that must be done by YOU.

Are you sure that you don't want to borrow/rent a shotgun in AK? Shipping cost will be higher than you think.

Yep, if flying, it is easy. You must have an approved lockable case. Get there a little early. One of the Baggage people will inspect, add a tag inside and send in on. You pick up from the baggage people when you arrive. It will not come up on the carosel. Do not make it "Guns" or in any way except a tag with name and address. Another such tag inside is a good idea. It ships as baggage, no extra charge (depending upon airlines and what their current scams are). Southwest is easy.

Doesn't Ala mean Alabama? I lived in Alaska for 30 years and it was always AK.

But regardless, Alaska is one of the 50 States and USPS to there is no different than any other Sate. At least it used to be the same.

Alaska Airlines flies into many CA locations. Check with them.
