    Usually "hand", but sometimes also called a "pawl". Both are correct.[:)]


    added: +1 on Uberti. I have found their guns and gunparts to be very good quality and closely, if not frequently exactly, interchangable with Colt.

    Item # 18 on diagram above. I need one, the spring on one of mine is broken. I got a replacement from Dixie gun works & it needs MAJOR reworking to fit. A quote I got from a local gunsmith was more than I originally paid for the pistol. I would like to just transfer the spring but I don't know if that can be done.

    I've bought parts from Dixie that were off-dimension far enough as to be unuseable (couldn't be fitted). But I've bought a lot of parts from Cimarron, that I found were very superior. Not long ago, I rebuilt two black-powder vintage SAA's and an original 1860 Army using Cimarron (Uberti) parts, that actually were exact for the specific the guns.
