Winchester front bead model 12
I have a model 12 missing the front bead. Where can I get one and what is the correct thread size??

they don't show them all but what they show are not the right style. Still need to know the correct thread size? 0 -
I have a model 12 with a factory rib on the barrel. I have always wondered if the front sight was screwed on or soldered on ?

6-48 is the correct thread size, IF YOU WANT TO USE THE THREADED FRONT SIGHT BEAD. Make sure you get the correct front sight. I believe some are swaged on, rather then using the threaded bead.
If there is any question regarding the front sight, as if it is factory original or aftermarket? Take it to a competent gunsmith who is familiar with them. This is because to use a 6-48 tap the correct size hole for that specific tap has to be in the barrel.0 -
Win. beads are screwed on and the one's I've replaced have been 3x56 thread
edit... Ruf, I just got my 20 ga. out of the safe to double check, definetly 3x56, .120" dia. bead somewhat 'flatened' (wider that it is tall). I don't have a 12 ga. right not but they are the same. several m-97's are the same also.0 -

Although I have never changed them out. I was under the impression that the 3-56 bead, was the small one that some shotguns have 1/2 way down the barrel.
The OP never stated if the front bead on his shotgun was Winchester factory original or aftermarket.0
