Jing An O/U 12g shell length
I bought a used Chinese Jing An 12 gauge over and under a few years ago with no manual. I've always shot 2 3/4" in it for trap and never worried about it but I bought a Mossberg 935 and it got me wondering if my O/U will handle 3" shells. I've checked the barrels and receiver but it's not marked anywhere what size shells it will handle. I know an unfired 3" shell will fit in 2 3/4 chamber but it doesn't mean it's safe. How else can you tell? From what I've researched has it's 2 3/4" only but it'd be nice to know for sure.

It may not be marked 2 3/4", but maybe marked 70mm near the proofs, sometimes on the water table, usually on the bottom of the barrels, on or near the lug. 0 -
If in doubt, find a smith that has a shotgun chamber guage. I picked up a H&A made in 1913 that is not even marked with the gauge, much less shell length- and had my smith take his chamber guage to it. 0 -
Take a fired (in a gun you know has a 3'' chamber) 3'' shell and try to chamber it. If it slides in easily the the gun should have 3'' chamber, if there's a lot of resistance or it gets stuck the then it should be a 2 3/4" chamber. 0 -
